Job opportunities for youth through Abdali Mall Training Centre

The EBRD has supported the creation of job opportunities for young people in Jordan with the opening of the Abdali Mall Recruitment and Training Centre (AMRTC), a dedicated on-site training facility in Amman, in October 2016.

Abdali Mall is a new shopping and entertainment centre that is spurring economic activity in the capital by supporting the city’s development as a regional business hub. It also helps create employment opportunities, including for youth and women, and places a strong emphasis on the efficient use of energy and water recycling.

The EBRD’s original loan of US$ 80 million was to the Abdali Mall Company which began in 2013. The centre is likely to create up to 2,000 new jobs, mainly in retail, facilities management and related sectors.

The mall’s recruitment and training centre, AMRTC, offers young people training opportunities and job-matching facilities in the retail and hospitality sectors.

Supported by the Korean government and the EBRD Shareholder Special Fund, the training centre has also benefited from inclusion technical assistance of €100,000 and additional contribution of the Abdali Mall Company.
